Haydock Medical Practice have a fixed term vacancy for a part time Administration Assistant.   The postholder will work as part of the Administration team to provide back-office admin support to the practice.  We are offering a range of flexible hours to suit the right candidate and full training will be provided.

The post is suitable to anyone who is confident with IT software packages such as Microsoft Office or who may have experience of working in Primary Care; this position will also be well suited to medical students who are looking to carry out work experience to enhance their current studies and gain an insight into Primary Care.

Amongst other duties, the Administration Assistant will support with the incoming correspondence into the practice ensuring this is contained within the patients computerised medical record in a timely manner.

You will love this job if you are organised and can effectively manage a workload to a dedicated timeline, you can work in an agile manner, and you can offer flexible working patterns to meet the needs of the practice.

You will hate this job if you do not like working to deadlines and you are not comfortable with learning to use IT systems used by the practice to support patient care.

Our practice was founded by Dr Thomas Hayward in 1880 and has been at the heart of the community in Haydock for 140 years. We aim to provide the best possible NHS healthcare for our patients, with high-quality care and services for all.

On 29th June 2020, Haydock Medical Centre merged with our neighbouring practice, Lime Grove Surgery. We are now a team of 50 staff and clinicians, serving over 15,000 patients in Haydock, St Helens, and the local area. ​ Our team has changed with the times. We now offer consultations with GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, a women’s health practitioner, specialist mental health practitioners, and specialist frailty practitioners. We also offer consultations with our practice nurses and health care assistants.

In 2017 we moved into brand new purpose-designed premises rated as excellent by BREEAM. We are a training practice and are linked to Health Education North West, Manchester University and Edge Hill University. We train GPs, medical students, physical and mental health nurses, health care assistants, GP assistants, and physician associates.
